About this coliving home
Our Coliving Studio is a creative retreat space in Kamikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and pure nature. It’s a place for those who want to live simply, stay active, and connect with like-minded people from around the world. The house features shared spaces designed for both work and relaxation. You’ll find an open living area, a community kitchen, a co-working corner, and a garden where we grow organic food together. Yoga mats, outdoor gear, and a fire pit make it easy to blend well-being with everyday life. We host small gatherings, workshops, and “micro-projects” that explore sustainable living and creative ways of working. Whether it’s cooking with local ingredients, making natural products, or sharing stories by the fire, you’ll quickly feel part of the community. We are not a typical guesthouse; it’s a home where residents contribute, exchange ideas, and experiment with new lifestyles. If you’re seeking connection, inspiration, and a slower rhythm in nature, this may be your place.

Neighborhood
We are located in Sakaemachi, Kamikawa Town—a small mountain town in central Hokkaido. The area is surrounded by clean rivers, hot springs, and endless outdoor opportunities, making it a hidden gem for those who love nature and adventure. Just 20 minutes away is Sounkyo Gorge, famous for its dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and seasonal beauty. In winter, you can experience the Sounkyo Ice Festival and ski the surrounding mountains. In summer and autumn, the hiking trails of Daisetsuzan National Park offer breathtaking alpine landscapes, including Japan’s highest peak in Hokkaido, Mount Asahidake. Kamikawa is also known for its world-class powder snow. Backcountry skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing are popular activities, with slopes far less crowded than those in Niseko—perfect for those seeking untouched snow and a more local experience. In warmer months, the region transforms into a paradise for hiking, cycling, and river activities. You can enjoy wildflower meadows in July, colorful autumn foliage in October, and relaxing hot springs year-round. Local farmers’ markets and seasonal festivals provide a taste of authentic Hokkaido life. The nearest city, Asahikawa, is about 40 minutes away by train, offering a lively food scene, craft beer, and the famous Asahiyama Zoo. From Asahikawa Airport, you can reach our place in about 90 minutes, while Sapporo and New Chitose Airport are around 2.5 hours away by train. Within walking distance, you’ll find small cafés, local shops, and the quiet streets of Sakaemachi. Life here moves at a slower pace—ideal for focusing on your projects while still having easy access to outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, and four distinct seasons.
