Happy Shelter Residence

About this coliving home
Welcome to the Château d’Herbelon – a unique place to live, work, and connect by the lake, surrounded by mountains.
This is our very first year, and we’re still shaping what coliving here will become. What we can already offer is a historic house with soul, a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, and the chance to share everyday life with others who value both community and calm.
You’ll find different rooms and lounges to work, read, or simply enjoy a coffee. There are communal meals, informal activities, and plenty of opportunities for conversation and exchange. Outside, the lake is just a few steps away for swimming, kayaking, or simply breathing in the view. And the mountains are close if you feel like hiking or exploring.
It’s not about perfection here – it’s about sharing, creating encounters, and enjoying the beauty of the setting. Whether you come for focus, inspiration, or just a change of rhythm, the Château is a place where life by the water and in the mountains naturally brings people together.

Neighborhood
Just 40 minutes from the Château, Grenoble is a lively city surrounded by mountains and often called the “Capital of the Alps.” It’s a place where nature and culture meet: you can take the famous cable car up to the Bastille fort for panoramic views, explore art and history at the Musée de Grenoble, or simply enjoy the cafés and terraces in the old town.
Grenoble is also a hub for outdoor activities: from hiking and climbing in summer to skiing in winter, there are endless opportunities to get outside and explore. Markets, festivals, and a vibrant student scene add to the energy of the city, while the surrounding villages and valleys offer a more authentic, relaxed pace of life.
Closer to the Château itself, the lake and mountains offer countless outdoor adventures: scenic hikes, famous Himalayan-style suspension bridges, and plenty of cycling routes for all levels. You can swim, kayak, or simply relax by the water, then head into the mountains for unforgettable trails.
