Neighborhood
The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic in Catalan) is the historic soul of Barcelona. Located in the heart of the old city, this charming neighborhood contains the city's oldest remnants, including parts of the ancient Roman wall and a remarkable collection of medieval landmarks. Strolling through the Gothic Quarter feels like stepping back in time. Its narrow, maze-like streets open up to charming plazas where history and modern life meet in perfect harmony. Among its highlights are the grand Barcelona Cathedral, the iconic Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, the lively Plaça Reial, and the historic Plaça de Sant Jaume, the political heart of the city. Its proximity to the Old Port (Port Vell) also adds a distinct maritime flair. With its blend of history, art, culture, and vibrant city life, the Gothic Quarter isn’t just a place to visit — it’s a place to experience and feel in every corner.
