Bjørkedalseidet Home

A four hundred year old farmhouse. We are aiming at making a society with intention inside the community of Bjorkedal. We do not like rules, and our main vision is that the society creates a functional way of living that is flexible as the society evolves. 8 bedrooms over three floors. Each with working-area, ergonomic chairs, monitors etc. Comfortable beds and bedclothing. Common and well equipped large kitchen with pantry, 2 fridges, freezer, 2 balconys and veranda, berries and a greenhouse in the garden. dining area, coworking/chill area. There are two bathrooms with shower. In the basement there are two spare toilets from the time the village public house was here.

The house is an old family house built to be a nomad society. Respect, openness and contribution are key factors. And also the right to privacy and space. We do not need or want leaders or or organizers, just contribute for the group so the group contribute to you. Cleaning and happiness and the life on the farmhouse is in the hands of the group. Anne and Jozsef are available though and also visit mostly every day. This is the way of the vikings democracy, and also the way Bjorkedal was living since that time. We want to share our traditions on society life, and we also see how much we learn from digital nomads. Nomadic life automatically seems to understand and value this philosophy. Let us build strength, respect and a soft living, together. When working for the society to shine is working for your own happiness and survival.

Bjørkedal is a small village surrounded by high mountains, pineforests and a beautiful large lake. The houses of the about 100 inhabitants are scattered around the lake. We have kayaks and a hottub by the lake, and also a tent/yoga platform with fireplace. bicycles, a cabin in the mountains and footpaths everywhere. There is a gym five minutes from the house. We are also working on transforming the old school-building into a community house where locals and nomads can meet and interact.

Bjørkedal is famous for the boatbuilding traditions. And the Bjørkedal boatbuilders recently built the Myklebustship that you can visit in Sagastad, Nordfjordeid. Nordfjordeid is also where we go shopping, with cafes, and most things you would need. We have a community car to get around. We charge a small sum pr kilometer to cover insurance etc.
